Jason Marcus has had the privilege of serving in the construction industry for over 25 years, working on extensive residential, commercial, and agricultural projects. He started his career in 1979 as a carpenter’s helper for David Baer Sr. of Baer’s Renovations.
After completing post-secondary studies at Humber College in Music (Jazz Performance, three years), Jason gained invaluable hands-on experience as an independent subcontractor and renovator in Toronto. He later moved his young family to Kitchener, ON, where he joined Can-Am Exteriors as an installer.
Purchasing his first home, the self-described ‘renaissance man’, a skilled tradesmen by day, sensitive musician by night, arrived in the London area in 1987. There, he increased his structural expertise, while working under Wayne Nemeth as framer-carpenter (‘Wayne’s Wood Works’), before founding his own business, Marcus Roofing. He managed and completed several government contracts for Action Renovations, a Middlesex County area general contractor.
Jason continued his formal education at Fanshawe College, successfully graduating from three business management programs (Administration, Systems Analysis & Design, and Computer Programming).
Soon after, David Baer Sr. reached out with a new opportunity for a management position.
For the next 12 years Jason earned the respect of colleagues (fellow LHBA and Renomark members) and clients (3 consecutive Consumer Choice Awards) as London Project Manager, Estimator, and Sales Representative for John & David Baer Inc.
In that role, Jason also represented Basement Boss London, an innovative and award-winning foundation waterproofing specialist.
A self-described ‘life-long learner’, Jason gained further expertise in basement diagnostics, basement waterproofing, basement finishing, foundation repairs, foundation structural repairs, mold remediation, and healthy basements.
As a regular participant in Basement Boss Authorized Dealership meetings, Jason earned the respect and team camaraderie of owners Paul & Carole Smith (‘Basement Boss’, Head Office) in their ongoing efforts, certifications, and professional education seminars towards C.Q.I. for all clients.
When David Baer Sr. retired and John Baer chose to downsize operations and work closer to home in Glencoe, Jason took the next step in his professional journey — founding his own company as President under a new name:
